Ugadi Specials:
Lord Brahma, the God of creation, is considered the legend behind Ugadi or Gudi Padwa. It is a common belief that Lord Brahma initiated creation on this auspicious occasion. The nine-day-long Vasant Navaratri begins on this day and ends on Rama Navami.
“UGADI PACHADI” is the most special element of the festival, a popular dish traditionally prepared on Ugadi. This dish is a composition of six different tastes namely sweet, sour, bitter, spicy, salt, and tangy. It signifies that we must accept the different flavors that life has in store for us.
“THE TRADITIONAL GUDI”, a decorative silk cloth along with flowers and mango leaves tied to a bamboo stick with a sacred Kalash on top is hoisted. This Gudi (flag) symbolizes victory and is hoisted in the entrances of every home in Maharashtra.
